Morgan Sturdy (Chair)

Morgan Sturdy is a high-tech entrepreneur and executive with an impressive 20 year track record. Morgan has been very active in the BC Technology community for the last 20 years serving as a board member of 25 technology companies. He is currently a director of Discovery Parks Incorporated, British Columbia Innovation Council and serves on the Premier’s Technology Council.

Matthew Carter

President, Great Northern Way Campus

GNWC’s President, Matthew Carter, joins GNWC from UBC Properties Trust where he served as Vice President from 2002. Previously he spent several years with Citibank in London, England. Matthew has an extensive background in real estate finance and development. At UBC Properties Trust he led initiatives to advance UBC’s vision to build a sustainable, mixed use community while creating significant endowment for research and learning.

Chris Golding

VP Learning and Technology, BCIT

During his ten years at BCIT Chris has held the positions of Director and then Dean of the Learning and Teaching Centre, overseeing three main mandates: curriculum development, instructor professional development and the support of e-learning services. The Institute has also asked Chris to establish the Institute’s Planning and Analysis Office, the development of the BCIT’s five-year strategic plan and to leverage a closer relationship between BCIT’s Information Technology and Academic support systems.

Andrew Grant

President, The PCI Group

Andrew has been the president of PCI since 1982 and has led the company to successfully undertake a broad range of projects, from small commercial buildings through to large office building projects as well as residential.

Patricia Hibbitts

VP Finance and Administration, SFU

Previous to her position as Vice President Finance & Administration at SFU, Pat served as Vice president Business and Finance at the University of Northern British Columbia and also served as Director of Finance & Administration at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, Memorial University. She holds a BA from the University of Toronto and an MBA from York University. She is currently working on a doctorate in Educational Leadership at Simon Fraser University.

John C. Kerr

Managing Partner of Lignum Forest Products LLP and Chairman of Lignum Investments.

Jake Kerr is the former Chairman of Lignum Ltd. He is Managing Partner of the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club, Chairman of the Vancouver Foundation, Chancellor of Emily Carr University of Art + Design and a Director of the Bank of Nova Scotia. He received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws Degree from Simon Fraser University. Jake is also the recipient of the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia in recognition for his significant contribution to the Country and the Province.

J. Eric Martin

Vice President Development, BOSA Developments

Eric Martin is the Vice President Development at BOSA Developments Corp. He is also Vice President and Corporate Secretary for BOSA Developments California, Inc. Previously, Eric worked for British Columbia Development Corp and Intrawest Properties Ltd. He has been responsible for overseeing major urban waterfront developments such as Lonsdale Quay and New Westminster Quay, and he has been involved in all aspects of real estate development for Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler.

Paul Smith

Vice Provost and AVP Academic Facilities and Enrolment pro tem UBC

From 2000 until 2009, Dr. Smith served as Head of Earth and Ocean Sciences, helping it achieve its status as the foremost geoscience department in Canada, ranking within the world’s top 20, and soon to be housed in the Earth Sciences Centre currently under construction on the Point Grey campus.  A strong believer in innovative teaching, Dr. Smith is a recipient of the Killam Teaching Prize for outstanding undergraduate teaching and has served on the Board of the Carl Wieman Science Education Initiative. 

Martti Solin

Independent Director

Martti Solin was a senior executive in the forest products industry for over 40 years. He served as Executive Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. until his retirement in 2008.  Martti has had extensive experience in corporate finance, public company reporting requirements and corporate governance.
