The Big Push - Winner Announced
The MDM Program is pleased to announce that Pacific Wild is the winner of The Big Push: MDM's Social Change Initiative.
Starting in January, a team of MDM students will work with Pacific Wild on developing dynamic, digital educational materials based on footage taken from remotely-operated, non-invasive cameras capturing wildlife events. The project, called Pacific Wild LIVE, will incorporate this stunning footage with Traditional Ecological Knowledge (stories, vocabulary and natural history), scientific knowledge and the best in environmental education techniques.

New Scholarship Opportunities Available For Students Of The Americas
Thanks to an agreement between the MDM Program and the Organization of American States (OAS), scholarships are now available to students from the Americas interested in joining the Masters of Digital Media (MDM) Program. The generous MDM/OAS scholarships are valued at a maximum of $30,000 US for a period of up to two years and includes a teaching position which may be renewed in subsequent semesters.

New $23M Network Centre of Excellence (NCE) in Graphics, Animation and New Media to be co-located with the MDM Program at GNWC
A new Network Centre of Excellence (NCE) recently awarded by the federal government to 50 researchers at 19 universities across Canada, will be headquartered at the Centre for Digital Media, Great Northern Way Campus (GNWC). GRAND, an NCE in Graphics, Animation, and New meDia, will explore, challenge, and advance the use of new media through collaborative, multi-disciplinary research, training, and innovation with a secondary focus on commercialization.

MDM Program Building Strong Academic Ties with Prestigious Communication University of China
The Masters of Digital Media Program is building a strong relationship with the Animation School of the Communication University of China (CUC) through collaborative projects, shared research and exchange programs.
A team of CUC students will collaborate remotely from Beijing, China providing animation, character design and virtual effects in support of an existing MDM industry project.

The MDM Program is a 20-month professional graduate degree jointly awarded by the four major public post-secondary institutions in Vancouver, Canada - the University of British Columbia; Simon Fraser University; Emily Carr University of Art + Design and the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
This innovative program provides our students with practical team-based experience through industry-relevant curriculum and real-world industry-funded projects.
Students work together to develop essential team-building, communications, and project management skills, preparing them for careers as creators, practitioners and senior managers in the rapidly-growing video game and digital media industry.
