Industry legend Don Mattrick, his partner Nanon Mattrick and MDM's Gerri Sinclair WOMP! it up at the 3rd Annual MDM Portfolio Showcase with team members who created the one-controller button Xbox Live video game.


The Third Annual MDM Portfolio Showcase, held on March 4th at the Centre for Digital Media, was attended by more than 130 industry executives, senior managers, recruiters and media. Companies such as Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, Rainmaker, Nokia, the National Flim Board and many others connected with the digital media talent of the Masters of Digital Media Program.

New website launched for GRAND NCE based in the Centre for Digital Media

New website for $23M Network Centre of Excellence (NCE) in Graphics, Animation and New Media

In Feburary, GRAND NCE - a newly formed Network Centre of Excellence for research in Graphics, Animation and New Media - went online with a revamped website (grand-nce.ca). Headquatered at the Centre for Digital Media, GRAND was awarded $23M in December 2009 by the federal government, and involves 50 researchers at 19 universities across Canada. GRAND is set to explore new media through collaborative, multi-disciplinary research, training, and innovation with a secondary focus on commercialization.

The MDM Program is a 20-month professional graduate degree jointly awarded by the four major public post-secondary institutions in Vancouver, Canada - the University of British Columbia; Simon Fraser University; Emily Carr University of Art + Design and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. This innovative program provides our students with practical team-based experience through industry-relevant curriculum and real-world industry-funded projects. Students work together to develop essential team-building, communications, and project management skills, preparing them for careers as creators, practitioners and senior managers in the rapidly-growing video game and digital media industry.
